What is a MAG box?
A MAG box (e.g. MAG 250, 254, 322 or 420) is a dedicated IPTV set-top box. It works with a portal URL: you give your MAC address to your provider and they send you a portal address that you set up in the box. Ideal for people who want the classic TV experience with a remote and channel numbers.
Step 1: Pass on your MAC address
Send your MAC address (found on the sticker on the underside of your box, or via Settings → System info) to your IPTV provider. At Pro IPTV you then receive your portal URL.
Step 2: Set up the portal
- On the box go to Settings → System settings → Servers → Portals.
- For Portal 1 name enter e.g. “Pro IPTV”.
- For Portal 1 URL enter the portal URL you received from your provider.
- Choose OK and restart the box completely (via Settings → Restart).
Step 3: Watch channels
After the restart the box loads your channels automatically. In the menu you see TV channels, movies and series. The EPG loads automatically too.
Troubleshooting the MAG box
- “Internal portal error”: remove the portal and add it again, or restart the box.
- Channels not loading: check that your MAC address was passed on correctly and that your internet connection works (Settings → System info).
- Black picture on channels: set the video setting in System settings to 1080p and turn off HDMI v2 (on older TVs).
- Box is slow: older MAG 250 models struggle with large channel lists. Consider a MAG 420 or an Android TV box.
Frequently asked questions about the MAG box
Which MAG box is best?
The MAG 420/424 is the newest and fastest. The MAG 254/322 still work fine for Full HD. The MAG 250 is old but keeps working.
Can I use a MAG with multiple TVs?
Yes, but each device has its own MAC address and portal access. Ask your provider about the options.
MAG box or Android box?
MAG is simple and stable but limited. An Android box (with TiviMate or Smarters) is more flexible and supports more apps.
